From Cajun Country and Greater New Orleans to the Crossroads, Plantation Country, and the Sportsman’s Paradise in the North, Louisiana is full of attractions and things to do and see. This destination is great for not only tourists and visitors but also for those who are looking at real estate and homes for sale. Louisiana lays claim to more than four hundred annual festivals, events, and celebrations in addition to its wide range of permanent attractions. These functions range from the Hummingbird Festival and the Delcambre Shrimp Festival to the Cane Rider Zydeco Festival and Satchmo SummerFest. In Louisiana, you can also see the battlefield where General Andrew Jackson commanded American forces and a ragtag group of pirates, villains, and locals to victory over a British army during the War of 1812.
New Orleans is home to the National World War II Museum, the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Aquarium of the Americas, the Audubon Zoo, and the Garden District, and then drop by the Superdome to catch some football action with the New Orleans Saints. In Cajun Country, you can visit historic plantations, museums, festivals, and the Tabasco factory in New Iberia. Plantation Country and Baton Rouge are home to old Civil War battlefields, the Old State Capitol building, grandiose plantation homes, and the Great River Road. The Crossroads, the part of Louisiana that provided inspiration for the movie Steel Magnolias, is also home to the Alexandria Museum of Art, Frogmore Plantation, and the Kent Plantation House. Finally, the northern portion of Louisiana, known as the Sportsman’s Paradise, is great for not only exploring, hunting, and fishing, but also history, culture, museums, and food.
