We all know the stereotype of North Dakota – boring with nothing to do – but nothing could be further from the truth. From hunting, fishing, and sightseeing to eating, shopping, and learning, North Dakota is a great place to visit and tour as well as look for real estate and homes for sale. This is the state where Lewis and Clark met Sacagawea, spent the most time on their expedition, and home to a wide variety of historical and natural attractions. The North Dakota Heritage Center and the North Dakota State Capitol are excellent places to visit, and you can also see the Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park, home to Custer’s ill-fated Seventh Cavalry. The Dakota Dinosaur Museum is a great place to bring the ids, as is Medora Doll House.
Musical entertainment and cultural attractions are also commonplace in this state, ranging from the Medora Musical and Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Site to the Plains Art Museum. Many Native American Tribes also maintain casinos on their land, offering those who enjoy gambling the chance to play all the traditional games, including poker, blackjack, roulette, craps, and slot machines. Other attractions in North Dakota include the Fargo Theater and Theodore Roosevelt National Park. In an interesting side note, many credit the natural beauty of the Dakotas with inspiring President Theodore Roosevelt’s conservation efforts. Scenic drives are another popular choice, whether along the North or South Units; either one offers great views and photo opportunities.
