The town of Parker, Arizona, is a great place to look at real estate and homes for sale because of its rich history, many attractions, and fantastic activities. This community was founded in the mid-nineteenth century and named for General Eli Parker, the United States Superintendent of Indian Affairs. Appropriately, this town is located in close proximity to a quarter million acre Indian reservation, the Colorado River Indian Reservation. The Colorado River itself is great for all manner of aquatic activities, including swimming, jet-skiing, diving, sunbathing, and just relaxing. Some nearby attractions include the Colorado River Indian Museum, and the huge Swansa Wilderness Area, which is a great reminder of how all of Arizona used to be. Another place to drop by while in the Parker area is the Parker Dam and Power Plant, a Great Depression Era structure that offers scenic outlooks and that helped to form the beautiful Lake Havasu. Parker also hosts the Parker Historical Society Museum, which has a collection of artifacts ranging from the eighteenth century mining rush and the old Native American settlements to the building of the dam and the infamous Japanese internment that occurred during the Second World War.
